Alumni And camp family coming together to give back. The Open Hearts Family Club establishes yearly goals designed to support the forever dream of Edward and Leone. Projects include fundraising, beautification, and special events.
Who is in the
open hearts Family club?
All campers and their family, as well as staff members and our special community of donors are forever part of the Edward J. Madden Open Hearts Club.
Together we are the community that Edward and Leone dreamed of. Sharing the common bond of being part of, and creating space for survivors.

Susanne Lantero
Inaugural Leader
Susanne attended the Madden Camp for 6 summers, from 1977 to 1982. A highlight of her childhood, she enjoyed meeting other open hearts kids and exploring the Berkshire's outdoors. Originally from Long Island, Susanne resides in the NYC area where she works in the Healthcare industry.

Dawn Dentato
Inaugural Leader
Dawn attended camp from 1973 to 1978 and looked forward to returning every year. She became a math teacher, mom of two, and fitness instructor/personal trainer. She and her husband currently live in the Hudson Valley.

Inaugural Leader
Hello, my name is Sean Land. I was a camper from 1979 to 1983. I am from Upstate New York. For the last 8 years I have been hiking Monument mountain. I do that because that was something that always stood out to me when I was at camp. Camp was very special to me because it was with people that where going though the same thing I did.

Join us at The Open Hearts Camp for our inaugural Beautification Event. Alumni can come together to help prepare the grounds for the new generation of campers.
